Mamie "Mae" Steinmiller

Mamie “Mae” Steinmiller 92 of South Haven passed away Saturday, September 26, at River Ridge Retirement Village in South Haven.  She was born February 28, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Adeline (Mrugacz) and Philip Wagner.  She married Leon Steinmiller on May 19, 1951 in South Haven.  Mae worked as a book keeper for several years.  She was a lifetime member of St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven. Mae enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music, gardening, sewing, working jigsaw puzzles, playing cards with friends, shoveling snow and attending church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Steinmiller who died in 2012.  Also by siblings – Loretta Schurr, Violet Scott, Genevieve Johnson, Adolph Wagner, Edward Wagner and Phil Wyszynski. 

Surviving are her children – David (Shelley) Steinmiller of Portage, Nancy (Steve) Wood of South Haven and Carol (Tony) Stricklin of South Haven.  Grandchildren – Lucas (Megan) Nienhuis, Janelle Nienhuis, Sarah (David) Shephard, Heather (Daniel) Lotz, Trevor Stricklin, Travis (Dani) Stricklin and Kelli Stricklin.  Great grandchildren – Ty Nienhuis, Grey Nienhuis, Jackson Lotz, Deacon Lotz, Gabriel Lotz, Nathaniel Lotz, Jayda Nienhuis and Jace Nienhuis.  Sisters – Dorothy Getman and Lillian Valind both of South Haven.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Basil Catholic Church with Father Jim Morris officiating.  Mae will be laid to rest at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores.  Memorial contributions can be made to St. Basil Catholic Church, 513 Monroe Blvd, South Haven, MI 49090 or Hospice of Southwest Michigan, 222 N Kalamazoo Mall #100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
