David Szarkowski

David Jan Szarkowski, 75, of South Haven, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 at his home. He was born July 6, 1945 to Stephen and Catherine (Nielsen) Szarkowski in South Haven. David graduated from South Haven High School with the Class of 1963. He later attended Western Michigan University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. David honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Ann Shinske December 26, 1970 at the St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven. David was a local retailer owning and operating McKimmies and Mallory Square in South Haven. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. David also enjoyed fishing in the Florida Keys.

David is survived by his wife of 49 years – Ann Szarkowski; children – Jennifer (Brandon) Cook of South Haven and Jason (Denise) Szarkowski of Clearwater, Florida; grandchildren – Graham and Adeline Cook.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Private services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery with Father Jim Morris officiating.
