John's Obituary
Deacon John Calvin Randall, 68 of Covert, Michigan passed away on August 8, 2020 at home under hospice care.
John (JC) was born in Evergreen, Alabama to Walter Townsend and Climmie Owens on November 23, 1951. He attended Belville Elementary Schools and Hillcrest High School of Evergreen Conecuh County in Evergreen, Alabama. He later moved from Alabama to Rochester, New York where he worked at the YMCA for 5 years and Fasco Industry Inc. for 20 years as an inspector of refrigerator motors. In 1975 JC moved to South Haven, Michigan where he worked at Controlled Rubber as a lift truck driver for many years. JC later started a business as a master mechanic of small engines for 25+ years until a few months before his passing. JC enjoyed hunting, fishing, the news stations, and westerns. JC met Selena Lauderdale in 1998 and has been united for 32 years. JC was a devoted member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and served as an usher for many years before being ordained a deacon.
JC is preceded in death by his parents Walter Townsend and Climmie Owens and siblings Hence Owens, Charles East, Ida Mae Porter, Ozzie Lee Randall, and Willie Bilbo.
JC is survived by his wife Selena Randall, daughter Danielle Carter of Benton Harbor, step-sons Lanell (Luciana) Gray of Fairfax Virginia, and Kelvin (Melinda) Gray of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Grandchildren, D’Avion Carter, D’Arreus Randall, Sammaya Harris, Kelvin Gray Jr., Kaeden Gray, a Godgranddaughter Akeelah Kelley; siblings Lela Mae (Jimmy) Rufus, Lonnie Bilbo, Gertrude (Michael) Kirkland, Theophlis (Betty) Randall, Dorothy Ann (Eddie James) Daily, Maude Lee, Special brother and friend Alvin (Angela) Ross, and a host of, cousins, family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday August 14, 2020 at 1:00pm at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven MI. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday August 14, 2020 at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home and will be live streamed on the funeral home’s website with Larry Lauderdale eulogizing and JT Wilkins officiating. JC will be laid to rest at Covert Cemetery.
