Joyce Elaine Havens

Joyce Havens, 66, of South Haven, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. She had lost her 6-year battle to lung cancer. She was born January 28, 1954 to Erwin and Lillian (Schoonmaker) Havens, Sr. in Hastings, Michigan. Joyce grew up with 8 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Thornapple Kellogg High School in Middleville, Michigan with the class of 1975. Joyce loved to spend time with her family and babysit when she was younger. She was an avid book reader. Joyce attended the Casco United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers – Michael Havens and Erwin Havens, Jr., nephews – Wes and Steven Scobey, and niece – Brandy Havens.

Joyce is survived by her sisters – Margaret (Peggy) Scobey and Carol (David) Reames of South Haven, Lorraine (Dale) Hastidt of Orangeville, MI, brothers – Gordon (Charlene) Havens of Portland, TN, Donald (Maria) Havens of Lakewood, WA, and Gary (Gail) Havens of Middleville, MI. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Joyce will be laid to rest at Irving Cemetery in Hastings, Michigan. A special thank you to Caring Circle Hospice for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Havens Family.
