David "Jed"'s Obituary

 

David “Jed” Jerome Fall, 86, of South Haven, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020 at his home in Geneva Township. He was born August 31, 1933 to Donald and Leone (Rohrer) Fall. Jed married Inez “Joanne” Amburgey on May 13, 1955 in Jackson Michigan.  They shared 62 years in marriage before her passing in 2017.  Jed honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.  While in the army, Jed served in the Army Security Agency.  Jed moved to Bangor in 1963 and managed Dancers Department Store.  He then owned and operated Fall’s Department Store in Bangor before joining  D & W in Stevensville as a department manager. Jed retired in 1995. He was a member of American Legion Post #49 for 60 years and the Bronson VFW Post for 61 years.  Jed enjoyed gardening and wood working.  Jed was an active volunteer for both veterans organizations.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife – Inez “Joanne” Fall, son – Donald James Fall, and daughter-in-law – Brenda Fall.

Jed is survived by his children – Tracie Lynn (Louis) Johnson of Paw Paw, Terry Lou (Steve Hamilton) Gregory of Kalamazoo, Tammie Lee (Joe) Hager of South Haven and David J. Fall Jr. of South Haven; 9 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14, at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Chaplain Larry Girard officiating. Jed will be laid to rest next to his wife Joanne at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.  Contributions may be made to American Legion Post #49, 129 Michigan Ave.  South Haven, Mi 49090.
