Michael John Underwood

Michael John Underwood, 70, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. He was born August 3, 1949 to Clifford and Margaret (Hinz) Underwood in South Haven. He attended South Haven High School. Mike served his country in the United States Navy onboard the USS Samuel Gompers. He later drove truck for SE Overton and CB Christian Moving Company before hauling iron in the trucking industry. Mike was a man of big ideas, fierce ambition, hard drive, and strong work ethic. His love for the open road was only second to the love he had for his family and friends.   He had a passion for anything that went fast, especially cars and Harley’s.   He loved going to the movies, watching TV and golfing, especially with John.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Margaret Underwood and brother-in-law James Hollis.

Mike is survived by his best friend and companion – Pamela Rospopo, and their four legged girls – Scarlett and Ginger; his children with Jane Underwood – Rachael (Jeff) Morris of Grand Junction, Mike (Laura) Underwood and Elizabeth Underwood both of South Haven; granddaughters – Liza Morris and Addison Gumpert; siblings- Bonnie (John) Wortman, Cindy Hollis, and Joe (Cathy) Underwood all of South Haven; many cousins, nieces, and nephews;  Pam’s family who loved him as their own – Angie Licthsinn, Justin (Carly, Caleb and Regan) Rospopo, and Rich Rospopo; Susan Barger; Mike and Steve Barger.

Private memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 with Pastor Gary Guthrie officiating at the funeral home.  Public services will be scheduled at a later date.
