David LaRue Oliver

David LaRue Oliver, 44 of South Haven Michigan, passed away Friday, April 24th,2020 at Bronson Hospital in South Haven, Michigan with his family by his side. He was born August 4th, 1975 to Johnny and Sherry (Stewart) Oliver in St. Joseph, Michigan. David graduated from Covert High School with the Class of 1994. While in high school David attended the Vo-tech in the Commercial Arts, Computer Aided Drafting, and Autobody Programs. In his Senior year of high school David attended an EMT class and became a First Responder for the Covert Fire Department. After high school he attended Lake Michigan College at both the Benton Harbor and South Haven campuses where he studied Industrial Maintenance Technology. David also took classes and became a Teacher’s Aide as well as an Ordained Minister. David worked various jobs during his working life, he worked at Wal-Mart in South Haven, Thermotron in Holland, Johnson Controls in Holland, Lovejoy in South Haven, CoCa- Cola in Paw Paw and was a licensed contractor and proud member of the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights Local 525 out of Kalamazoo.  David enjoyed art, music, history, traveling and mathematics.  Most of all he had a love for classic and muscle cars. He loved to restore classic and muscle cars such as his 1951 GMC pick- up truck, 1969 Copo Camaro Z28, and a Chopped and Dropped Custom 1949 Ford Lead Sled. David was also an avid artiest. David has touched the lives of many family and friends throughout the years. His close knit family and friends have supported him through all his ups and downs. David’s niece and nephew Madilyn and Lukas have been his shinning stars through it all. David was a loving, caring, and  compassionate person that was always there when you needed advice, was a good listener and would help with anything no matter what. He had a huge heart and a love for all. David will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John and June (Smith) Oliver, maternal grandparents Leslie Stewart and Margaret Huffman, step grandparents Robert Hornbarger, Carol Stewart, Aunt Lorna Leverton-Howell, and Uncle William Patrick Oliver.

David is survived by his parents Johnny and Sherry (Stewart) Oliver of South Haven Michigan, siblings Mandy Oliver of South Haven; Michigan, Stephanie Oliver of South Haven; Michigan, brother Plez and Melissa (Thompson) Oliver of South Haven; Michigan, niece Madilyn Oliver, nephew Lukas Oliver, cousins Cheyanna Oliver & Destinie Oliver, Aunt Debra Tate of South Haven; Michigan , Aunt Victoria and Leonard Dean of Little Rock; Mississippi, Aunt Deborah Oliver of Watervliet, Special cousin Edward C. Smith of Lawrenceburg; Tennessee, and numerous other family members.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will take place at a later date at First General Baptist Church – 6365 North Shore Drive Coloma, Michigan 49038 with Pastor Tom Langston officiating.  Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guestbook.
