Michael's Obituary

Michael Wallace Kempski, 62, of South Haven, Michigan passed away Monday, April 6, 2020 peacefully in his home. He was born December 29, 1957 in South Haven to Alexander and Pauline (Wallace) Kempski. Michael graduated with the class of 1976 from Bangor High School. He married Janie Cericola on August 7, 1982 at Bangor Church of Christ in Bangor. They shared 37 years of marriage before his passing. Michael worked as a security guard for Palisades Nuclear Plant before working as a machine operator at Haworth for 25 years and retiring in 2010. He had a great sense of humor and loved to play practical jokes. Michael also enjoyed wood working and playing with his grandchildren. He served his country in the United States Air Force.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alexander Kempski.

Michael is survived by his wife, Janie Kempski, children – Nichole (Jamie) French of Coloma, Alexander (Sandy) Kempski of Stevensville, and Anthony Kempski of Austin, TX, siblings – Steve (Tracy) Kempski of Conway, SC, Scott (Jill) Kempski of Bangor, MI, Sandra (Rex) Ellsworth of Murfreesboro, TN, Rick (Shirley) Kempski of Ironwood, MI, and Dan (Juanita) Kempski of Hobart, IN, and grandchildren – Savannah, Cassidy, Adalynn, and Austin French.

Private family services will take place Friday, April 10, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven with Pastor Steve Smallegan officiating. Services will be streamed for the public via the funeral home’s website. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Michael will be laid to rest at Monks Cemetery in Geneva Township, Michigan.
