Marilyn's Obituary

Marilyn Lucille Wenzel, 92, of South Haven, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 peacefully in her home. She was born April 25, 1927 to Edward and Ermay I. (French) Shoop in South Haven, Michigan. Marilyn graduated with the class of 1945 from South Haven High School and later attended Albion College to obtain her Bachelors in Education. She went on to teach at both South Haven and Covert Public Schools. Marilyn married Clarence “Pic” Wenzel on June 4, 1949 and they shared 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2006. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in South Haven. Marilyn loved to garden, especially vegetables and was an avid walker. She was an incredible mother and will be forever missed by her children and grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence Wenzel, son, Christopher Wenzel, brothers, Carroll “Cal” Shoop and Edward Shoop.

Marilyn is survived by her children – Tim (Tammy) Wenzel of Midland, David Wenzel of South Haven, Julie (Scott) Reed of Florida. Daughter in law -Kathy Wenzel and grandson, Ian Wenzel  both of Ludington.

Memorial services will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn’s honor to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan at 801 Hazen Suite A, Paw Paw, MI 49079.
