Margaret Loretta Begel

Margaret Loretta Begel, 76, of South Haven passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan. She was born September 7, 1943 to Jay and Beulah (Smith) Beach in Lenoir, North Carolina. Margaret went on to obtain her masters degree and worked as a registered nurse and educator for Lakeland Regional Health Hospital for 30 years until her retirement in 2004. She also worked as an associate professor of nursing at Lake Michigan College, Andrews University, and Southwestern Michigan College. She married Robert Begel on July 21, 1963 in Valdosta, Georgia and they shared 45 years of marriage before his passing in 2008. Margaret loved playing with her great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Begel, son, Charles Begel, father, Jay Beach, and brother, Jerry Beach.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Kristina (Ron) Bus of Grand Junction, stepson, Robert A. (Carla) Begel, Jr. of Pueblo West, Colorado, mother, Beulah Beach of Vero Beach, Florida, sister, Brenda Sherriff of Vero Beach, Florida, brother, Jeff Beach of Jackson, Michigan, grandchildren – Jonathon, Nathan, and Emily Bus and Drea Smith, and great grandchildren – Scarlett, Eli, Jessica, Devon, Alex, and Camaron.

Visitation will take place Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will take place Friday, February 7, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Van Lente officiating.
