Brenda Mourning

Brenda Mourning also known as “The Puerto Rican Queen B” came into this world on December 8, 1970 in Chicago, IL to Bruce, Lorna, and sister Peggy Brock. Brenda was an Academic All-American scholar and graduated with high honors in 1990 from Dowagiac Union High School. She went on to attend Davenport University for 2 years. On July 26, 2008 Spencer Mourning and Brenda became one at Calvin Center Church in Cassopolis, MI. Brenda was a dedicated mother to Amos T. Clark III (Brittani Dillard), Jasmine, Tyler, and Isiah. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. However, her grandchildren, Arianna, Mylah, Asiyah and Amos T. Clark IV were her pride and joy. She took every chance she could to make memorable moments that they will cherish forever. Brenda was not only a mother and nana but a friend and genuine soul. No matter the reason Brenda opened her home and heart to many. Brenda took every opportunity to make someone’s day. Making others happy is what brought joy to her heart. This may have been showed by an unexpected gift, kind words, or a simple mojito date. Running on little to no sleep when it came to business, Brenda’s work ethic was unmatched. Brenda was consistently committed to at least two jobs all while maintaining perfection. On Monday, October 4, 2021, at the age of 50, Brenda passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home in Dowagiac, MI. Brenda is preceded in death by her fraternal grandparents Mitchell and Martha Brock of Helton, Kentucky, and maternal grandparents Gabriel and Asturiana Lozada of Corozal, Puerto Rico. Whether Brenda was your family, friend, or coworker she’ll forever be missed dearly. The family will be celebrating Brenda’s life at 12pm, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Interment will be held privately.
