Hal's Obituary

Hal Eugene Burton, 93, of Benton Harbor, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Hanson Hospice Center, with his family at his side. A celebration of homegoing service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Refreshing Fountains Church of God in Christ, 175 S. Euclid Ave., Benton Harbor with his son, Bishop Melvin Burton officiating. For health and safety purposes, out of respect to the family, masks will be required. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. Visitation will take place on hour prior to the service from 10-11 am also at the church. Hal was born on April 5, 1928, to Melton and Blanie (Rush) Burton in Meridian, MS. Professionally, Hal worked as a Core Maker at Auto Specialties for nearly thirty years before retiring. He was a longtime member of Refreshing Fountains where he served as a Deacon for many years. Hal was a man of faith and loved the Lord. Hal is survived by his children, Bishop Melvin (Vivian) Burton, Carolyn (Norris) Fort, Terri (Willie) Mays, Sondra (Vincent) Woods, Maurice (Jolita) Burton, Maverick Burton and Starr (Pernell) Ridley; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Mabelle Kilpatrick and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melton and Blanie Burton and siblings, Eli, Lady B, Ida Mae, Eddie, Willie, Luther, Aurelia, James and Grady.
