Anna's Obituary
Anna “Betty” Rubenacker, 92, of Union Pier, MI, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday-September 23, 2021. A private Mass of Christian Burial was held with final resting place being at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Talons Out Honor Flight @ P.O. Betty was born on Feb. 16, 1929 in Hamilton County, IL to the late William and Nora (Biggerstaff) Basinger. On Nov. 4, 1948 she married the love of her life Robert “Bob” Rubenacker in Enfield, IL. Betty was a self-employed cosmotoligist/beautician for many years. She loved doing all kinds of crafts – especially sewing and crocheting. Betty enjoyed finding bargains at garage sales; was a doll collector; and an avid reader. She also loved traveling with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren. Betty will fondly be remembered as a kind wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed.
Betty is survived by her two children – Peggy (Woody) Dismuke of Valparaiso and Stan Rubenacker of New Buffalo; grandchildren – Jenny (Todd) Lawrence of Orlando, FL and Angela (Sam) Fugate of Brownsburg, IN; great grandchildren – Lucy, Gloria, and Jack Fugate and Evelyn Lawrence; brothers – John (Shirley) Basinger and Charlie (Betty) Basinger both of New Buffalo; and sisters – Lou Bernt of Alton, IL, Catherine (Gene) Trapp of Danville, IN, Clara (Gene) Voyles of Crete, IL and Eydie (Jim) Ward of Sturgis, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents – William and Nora Basinger; her husband – Bob Rubenacker; brothers – Robert and Joe Basinger; and sister – Helen Dunkel.
