Lewis Edward “Ed” Aurand

Lewis Edward “Ed” Aurand, 95, of South Bend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN. A celebration of life service will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday, September 3, at Community Church, 28647 US – 12 Edwardsburg, MI, with Pastor Dan Thomas officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior from 3:30-5:30 pm also at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Constantine Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel, Buchanan. Ed was born on January 18, 1926, to George and Mary (Wolfe) Aurand in Mottville, MI. On April 11, 1948, he married Bonnie Stahly, she preceded him in death on September 13, 1950. Ed would later marry Betty J. Robb on August 31, 1952, in Three Rivers. Professionally, he worked at Studebaker for 10 years and then became an over the road truck driver for the remainder of his career. Ed and Betty have been members of Community Church in Edwardsburg for over twenty years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening cutting firewood, playing games, his favorite being dominos. Most of all, Ed cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ed is survived by his wife nearly 70 years, Betty Aurand; children, Paul (Pam) Aurand of South Bend, IN, Bonnie Snyder of Greenville, SC, Dave (Sue) Aurand of Granger, IN, Debra (Randy) Anderson South Bend, IN, and Dawn (Jim) Wise of New Paris, IN; sixteen grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Aurand; first wife, Bonnie Aurand; son, Donald Aurand; brother, John (Ella) Aurand, twin sister, Lois (Larry) Bratton and son-in-law, M. Bruce Snyder.
