Kay Tomasini

Kay Tomasini, 79, of Stevensville, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Chad Harlan officiating. There will be a birthday cake celebration in Kay’s honor following the service. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 2,at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Church of God, St. Joseph. Those wishing to sign Kay’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Kay was born July 24, 1942 in Keokuk, Iowa to Elvie & Ruth Allison (Patton). Her father passed away at an early age and her mother remarried Joseph Roy, who adopted and raised Kay as his own. Kay graduated from Brewster High School, and then later in life continued her education to earn both a Bachelor & Masters degree from Western Michigan University. After raising her family, Kay moved to Colorado where she devoted her time to her work with Avaya in Denver as a telephone systems engineer and caring for her mother. Kay retired in 2009 and moved back to St. Joseph/Stevensville to be close to her family. During this time, she devoted her time to her passion for writing—poetry and prose. Kay wrote and published two books-Dancing with Words, and YOLO-which was inspired by her granddaughters. Kay was a member of the First Church of God in St. Joseph where she sang in the choir and was active in Vacation Bible School and Women of the Church of God. She was an accomplished piano player and appreciated many forms of music and art. In her earlier years she was active in many plays through Twin City Players, and most recently was a member of the Twin Cities Newcomers. Kay cherished the time spent with her family and many friends and was known for her cheerfulness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Kay is survived by her three daughters-Mary Jo Tomasini (Fred Malawski) of Stevensville, Paula Kay (Tom) Wygonik of Stevensville, Francine Marie (Roger) Jordan of Coloma; and four grandchildren-Jillian & Nicholas Wygonik and Faith & Noah Jordan. She was preceded in death by her father Elvie Allison, and her mother & adoptive father-Ruth & Joseph Roy.
