Paul's Obituary

Paul Dennis Figel, 73, of Eau Claire, found his much-deserved peace on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville. His beloved wife, adored daughters and cherished sister-in-law were by his side. Paul was born on April 9, 1948, to Paul and Kathryn (Prokopchuck) Figel in Oak Park, IL. The happy new family moved to Kathryn’s hometown of Eau Claire. After graduating from Eau Claire High School, Paul attended Lake Michigan College. His draft number was called and next thing he knew in July of 1969, he was sitting in a hot jungle wearing a US Army Uniform while working on helicopters during the Vietnam War. Never one to pass up a fun prank or laugh, even if it was on an Officer, a story often told was that of a prank that led to him painting a barn with a toothbrush. Lucky for him, in August of 1970, he came home and quickly met the love of his life, Cynthia A. Partridge. They married April 15, 1972, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Cindy Figel; daughters, Tracy (Will) Althouse and Kimberly (Mike) Hochstetler both of St. Joseph; grandchildren Raven, Angelina, Alexander, Hunter and Mason; brother Larry (Janet) Figel; brother-in-law Pat (Valerie) Partridge; sister-in-law Kim Partridge, plus many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Kathryn Figel; infant sister, Sandy Figel; father and mother-in-law Donald & Marie Partridge, and beloved brother-in-law Michael Partridge. Paul retired from Bosch (Stevensville) after 36 years in 2004. Throughout life, Paul loved to boat, fish, hunt, snowmobile and travel; especially to Mexico and Las Vegas. He enjoyed Muscle Cars, his Buick Grand National, then his BMW and riding his custom-ordered Harley-Davidson. Most of all, Paul loved laughing, having fun, time spent with family and being with his grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, with Mass at Noon. A private, family Funeral will be held at a later date in Shanghai Cemetery, Eau Claire with full military honors. Paul wished to be cremated and remains buried near family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hanson Hospice Center or SS. John & Bernard Parish. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel.
