Bonnie's Obituary

Bonnie Rutter, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Stevensville. Bonnie was born April 30, 1930 in Benton Harbor, MI to George and Gertrude (Nichols) Menzer. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1948 and met and married Walter Rutter on April 14, 1951 in Indiana. Bonnie worked for Dr. Bill Fowler and Dr Edward Atwood, The V-M Corporation and Standard Processing. She was a very strong woman who supported her husband in all of his endeavors. Bonnie loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and tending her flowers. She was a “very cool lady”! Bonnie is survived by her children; Sandra (Phil Gzym) Rutter, John (Joanne Anderson) Rutter and Robert (Colleen) Rutter. Grandchildren; Randy (Angie) Nalepa, Holli Rutter and Ryan (Anita) Rutter, Great Grandchildren: Skylar Nalepa, Cassandra Nalepa and Tanner Rutter. Brother-in-Law; Ed Rutter. She was preceded by her parents and her husband Walter Rutter. Cremation has already taken place through Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Caring Circle Hospice St. Joseph, www.spectrumhealthlakeland.org/caringcircle.
