Sheri Lynn Torrey

Sheri Lynn Torrey, 44, of St. Joseph, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Spectrum Health Lakeland. A Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 12 PM at Riverview Cemetery Columbarium’s, 2925 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Josh Bishop officiating. Sheri was born on February 27, 1977, in Benton Harbor to Kally & Shirley (Arndt) Bergstrom. She attended Michigan Lutheran Highs School, graduating in 1995. She continued her education at Lake Michigan College earning a Nursing Degree in 2003. She had a passion for helping people which lead her to work for Spectrum Health Lakeland Oncology Department for over 20 years. On February 24, 2005, Sheri married the love of her life, Don Torrey, in Berrien Springs. Together they raised two wonderful children, Kayley and Landon. Sheri loved being outside and exploring what mother nature had to offer. Whether she was fishing on the lake, hiking the trails in the upper peninsula or tending to her beautiful garden, Sheri loved every minute of being in nature. Over the past few years, Sheri and Don began watching HGTV and loved doing renovations trying to create their own dream home. Whenever a Detroit Tiger’s game on she was sure to keep up with the score, and she rarely would miss attending local art fairs or artisan markets. However, what meant the most to Sheri was her family. Having her family over for holidays and cooking for them brought her so much joy. Sheri is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Don; children, Kayley Bergstrom and Landon Torrey; mother, Shirley Bergstrom; brother, Gregory Getterson; and father-in-law, Don Torrey, Jr. She was preceded in death by her father, Kally Bergstrom.
