James's Obituary

James R. Isham, 86, of East Lansing, formerly of Stevensville, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 14, 2021. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 10AM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 9AM until time of service at the funeral home. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services. James was born on May 2, 1935, to Harley & Clarissa (Wood) Isham in Carson City, MI. He graduated from Midland High School, class of 1953. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country before being honorably discharged. On April 7, 1967, he married the love of his life Delores Harris in St. Joseph. James worked for Verizon as a central office switchman for over 18 years before retirement. James enjoyed being a HAM radio operator and found interest in genealogy and rebuilding televisions and radios. He also enjoyed going camping and gardening. James is survived by his wife of 54 years Delores Isham; children, Mark (Teresa) Radabaugh of Houston, TX, Scott (Susan) Isham of Lansing, MI, and Teresa Vales of Decatur; nine grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Howard (Judy) Isham of Washington, MI, Carol Neeb of Midland, MI, and Marilyn Guttridge of Lansing, MI. James was preceded in death by his parents, Harley & Clarissa Isham; brother Gary Isham; grandson Jason; and brothers-in-law Clarke Neeb and Thomas Guttridge.
