Phyllis Marie Cooper

Phyllis Marie Cooper, 91, of Sister Lakes, MI passed away on Sunday – August 15, 2021 in her home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel – 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI. Phyllis was born on February 6, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Edward and Martha (Kastner) Fitzgerald. She was a graduate of Mercy High School in Tinley Park, IL. On April 25, 1953 in Chicago she married John “Jack” Cooper; he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2018. Phyllis was a member of the BPW of Dowagiac; a member of the Sister Lakes Lady Lions; a member of the Sacred Heart Ladies Auxiliary; and her family says she was a master baker and loved knitting afghans. She will be greatly missed by friends and family. Phyllis is survived by sons – John (Candy) Cooper and Robert (Chris) Cooper both of Dowagiac; grandchildren – Stephanie (Steven) Tucker, Kristy (Ryan) Mitchell, Jeff (Felicia) Cooper, Drew (LeAnne) Cooper, Joshua (Katie) Cooper and Lea Cooper; eight great grandchildren; and late son Rick’s wife Penny. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-Rick and a sister Marilyn Germann. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday – August 18, 1:00pm, at Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Dowagiac, MI. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation with the family is also on Wednesday, from 11:00am-12:30pm, at Clark Chapel in Dowagiac. Memorial contributions in memory of Phyllis may be made to the Sister Lakes Lions Club.
