Ronald Dean Gowin, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 13, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., at The Dank, 2651 Pipestone Rd, Benton Harbor. Burial will be held Friday at 2:30 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI, with Military honors by the United States Air Force. Ronald was born February 10, 1932 in Frankinville, New York to Harold and Helen (Very) Gowin. He met Joan Musolf and married in Tawas City, MI on February 7 1955. Ronald went to the Michigan State Police Academy and proudly served as a Michigan State Trooper for 27 years he then became Under Sherriff for Lake County for 3 years before his retirement. In his younger years he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and a vodka on the rocks with 3 queen olives with friends. He was a member of the V.F.W. 5315, AMVETS in Baldwin, Mi., the American Legion post 105 and FOP 96.

Ronald is survived by his children; Lori Gowin Brewer of St. Joseph, Tracy (Joe) Coombs of Benton Harbor and Christopher (Kara) Gowin of Coloma, grandchildren; Ryan Meagher and Jordan Gagliardo. Brother Donald Gowin of Buffalo, New York. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan, his parents and his sister Kay Weber and brother William Gowin.
