Leonard's Obituary

Leonard R. Willming, 70, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, at Spectrum Health Lakeland, St. Joseph. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Visitation will take place one hour prior, from 1-2 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion (Reino Post 21) or the VFW (Ottawa Post 3134) in Iron River, MI. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. The service will also be live-streamed for those who cannot attend. Leonard was born on July 28, 1951, to Lewis and Virginia (Frobel) Willming in Benton Harbor, MI. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1970, and received his Associates Degree from Lake Michigan College. Professionally, Leonard worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at Bosch. He started his career in the agriculture industry selling fruit harvesting equipment throughout Michigan’s fruit belt. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the wildlife on his trail cams, and working on classic cars. Leonard truly had an engineer’s mind and enjoyed building things, including converting a 1937 Plymouth to a four-wheel drive vehicle, something his family referred to as “Leonardizing.” He also had a great sense of humor, most of all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends, especially while at his cabin in Iron River, MI. Leonard is survived by his daughter, Morgan Willming of Boise, ID; fiancée, Marcia Gebben of Benton Harbor; siblings, Dennis (Roberta) Willming, Wendy (Dwyne) Patrick, Timothy (Karen) Willming and nieces, Darcy (Andreas) Patrick-Sturzebecher and Taylor (Devon) Kibby.
