Gertrud Elfriede Puppel, 96, of St. Joseph, Michigan passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021 at The Willows Assisted Living Home in St. Joseph. Gertrud was born on June 11, 1925, in Dalwin Kreis Dirschau Danzing West Prussia to Albert and Frieda (Burau) Schultz. Gertrud was above all a devoted wife and follower of Jesus Christ. She was married to her late husband Gerhard Puppel in 1951 and immigrating to the USA in 1957. Together they served the Lord as career missionaries with Trans World Radio on the island of Bonaire. Gertrud was a member of Napier Parkview Baptist Church. She volunteered many years with church services for inmates at the Berrien County Jail ministry. She also served at the Shoreham Nursing Home. She loved her Lord, family and her church. She enjoyed baking and gardening. Gertrud is survived by her sister-in-law Maria Schultz of St. Joseph and Elisabeth Schultz of St. Joseph. Gertrud was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerhard Puppel 1996 and 3 brothers, Walter Schultz in 1942, Gerhard Schultz in 2007, and Otto Schultz in 2015. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Riverview Cemetery, 2925 Niles Road, St. Joseph with Pastor Dan Golladay officiating. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Napier Parkview Baptist Church.
