Katherine Zeder

Katherine K. “Kim” Zeder, 83, from Bridgman (formerly of New Buffalo, MI and Palos Heights, IL) passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2021, with her daughters, Kimberly and Beth by her side. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI. Kim, as she was known by many, was born to Grace and Joseph Flint, Jr. on New Year’s Eve, 1937. She attended Morgan Park Academy and during her high school days worked making waffles and ice cream, which was the beginning of her love of chocolate and strawberry ice cream! Her first job was working for Jewel in the office and through her friend Danny Ludwig, met Roy W. Zeder, Jr. They were married on October 11, 1958, and celebrated 58 years at the time of Roy’s death. She was active in boating with her husband and children, a homemaker, band parent and room mother. Kim loved to play bingo and back in the day was a pretty good bowler, loved to gamble (waiting for the Big Win!), watching FOX news, the golf channel and her beloved Notre Dame teams! At home she loved to watch the birds, squirrels and rabbits run through their yard, fascinated by their playfulness. The brightest spot in her heart was for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren! She will be greatly missed – We so loved you Mom!!! Kim is survived by her children, Kimberly (Phil) Naumann and Beth (Dennis) Lyle; grandchildren, Brandee (Michael) DeGrado and Zachary (Lauren) Naumann; great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Whitney; sisters, Nancy (Don) White and Susan Greer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Zeder, Jr.; parents, Grace and Joseph Flint, Jr.; step-father, Edwin Dieball; brother, David; and brother-in-law, Jack Greer. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 1:00pm at Sommerfeld Chapel. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Visitation with the family precedes the service from 11:00am-1:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to: Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Ave., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
