Catherine "Cathy" Mary Odenwald

Catherine “Cathy” Mary Odenwald, 63, of Decatur, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. The family will receive guests from 5-7pm, Monday, July 5, 2021 at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur. A celebration of life service will be held at 11am, Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the funeral home, Pastor Mike Heflin officiating. Burial to follow at Harrison Cemetery in Decatur. Memorial contributions may be given to Animals Best Friend Fund, Inc www.animalsbestfriendfund.org. Cathy was born February 20, 1958 in Kalamazoo to Pauline Verville. On December 22, 1979 she married the love of her life, William “Billy” Odenwald. They were married for 31 years before his death in 2010. After Bill’s passing, Cathy went to work for the Paw Paw and Decatur School Districts, holding various positions over the years. Cathy’s generous nature shone through in her treatment of animals; she always had food for all creatures great and small. Cathy loved her family dearly, but her granddaughter was her pride and joy. She enjoyed having her sleepover and always took the opportunity to spoil her. Cathy will be missed by her daughters, Tabitha Ann (Eddie Grandstaff) Odenwald, and Rebecca Odenwald; her granddaughter, Willa Grace Grandstaff; and her siblings, Debby (the late John) Canniff, Peggy (Tony) McLendon, Michael (Dawn) Sechman, Cindy Sechman, and Laurie Kirby. She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Billy” Odenwald; and her parents, Pauline and John Kirby.
