Troy's Obituary

Troy Lee Oliver, 47, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Monday, June 21, 2021 at Spectrum Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. “I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race.” 2 Timothy, 4:7 A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Berrien County Baptist Church, 5940 St. Joseph Ave., Stevensville, with Rev. James Whitman officiating. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 2:00 P.M. Troy was born March 15, 1974 in St. Joseph to Roy & Linda (Lewis) Oliver. Troy attended Grace Christian School through the seventh grade. He graduated from Coloma High School, Class of 1992 where he studied in the building trades program, then attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs. Troy was employed for several years during school at Meijer in Benton Harbor & Kalamazoo. After high school, Troy moved to Florida where he worked at Captiva Island, later at Applebee’s in Tennessee, and at the Wayside Restaurant in Kalamazoo. Most recently he enjoyed working with Josh Engle’s stage crew. Troy was raised in The Church of the Nazarene in St. Joseph and attended until it closed in 2019. He played baseball all through school and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Troy also enjoyed classic cars and cherished the time when he drove his 1967 Mustang. Troy is survived by his parents, Roy & Linda Oliver of Benton Harbor; two daughters, Alicia (Nate) Hutchins & Brinsie Oliver; three grandchildren, Eli, Noah & Grace Hutchins. His family that supported him throughout his life, aunts, Helen Vice of Tallahassee, FL, Darlene (Jim) Bryan of Carrabelle, FL, Pam (Barry) Wheeler of Dyersburg, TN, Barbara (Eric) Anderson of Sister Lakes & Sandi Freeman of Benton Harbor; cousins, Laura (Ray) Morrison of Dyersburg, TN, Karri Wheeler of Soule, S. Korea, Dustin Oliver of Stevensville, Nina Oliver of Benton Harbor, Matthew Oliver of Sodus, Stephanie Oliver of South Haven, Brooke (Joey) Yearwood of Newbern, TN, Randy (Jenna) Hall of Dyersburg, TN & Jerry Oliver of Watervliet; friends, Tom Schroeder, Jeremy Estkowski, Chef Elton of The Inn at Harbor Shores & the staff at dialysis. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence & Martha Oliver & Alex Lewis & Betty Wyman, three uncles, Gailen & Nathan Oliver & Wayne Vice.
