Ada's Obituary

Ada Adelle Skoda, 84, of Benton Harbor, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her grandchildren on Wednesday, June 9, at Caretel Inns St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, June 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 121 Kline St. Benton Harbor, with Pastor Nathan Buch officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Ada was born to Verne and Grace (Lemon) Bucher in Benton Harbor, on January 25, 1937. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School. On January 25, 1952, she married William L. “Bill” Skoda at the Berrien County Courthouse. Ada held many positions working at Chemical Bank for her entire career. Ada was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and sang in the choir. Ada’s family was the most important part of her life. She spent many summers with her children and grandchildren at the cottage on Round Lake. She loved to swim and roller skate with her grandkids. She was known to be very well organized and kept meticulous records of everything she ever owned. Her favorite sentence was “I love you”, she loved deeply and was much loved in return. Her easy going and free spirit, will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Ada is survived by 10 Grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Grace Bucher; husband of 55 years, Bill Skoda; sons, Verne Skoda, John Skoda, Warren J. Skoda, Michael L. Skoda, and David R. Skoda; and sister, Joyce Bucher to whom she was especially close and missed dearly. Donations may be made in honor of Ada to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
