Jack Morris

Jack Morris, 87, of Decatur, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 4, 2021 at his home in Decatur. A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 12pm, Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur, with Pastor Mike Heflin officiating. Jack was born May 6, 1934 in Harpersville, AL to Dencil and Margaret (Branhan) Morris. On July 30, 1959 he married Joy Moore, and they spent 59 years together before her passing in 2019. Jack worked for Union Operating Engineers local 324 for many years before he retired. In his younger years, Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding anything with four wheels. He especially enjoyed traveling around the country with Joy, and spending time with his son. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his son, Scott (Tessa) Morris; his grandchildren, Ashley Morris and Jamie (Chris) Haller; his great grandchild, Christopher James Haller; and his siblings, Patricia (Gary Lee) Olive, Louise (the late Paul) Tuberville, Robert (Marilyn) Morris, and Terry (Vickie) Morris. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joy (Moore) Morris; his daughter, Latreeca Morris; his siblings, Margaret Catherine Penniger, and Billy Morris; and his parents.
