Laurie Ann Bailey

Laurie Ann Bailey, 58, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at her home in Decatur. She was born November 7, 1962 in Buchanan to Roy and Arlene (Freehling) Shumaker. Laurie was a graduate of River Valley High School in Three Oaks. She met and married Richard Bailey, Jr. and worked a long career at the United States Postal Service, holding various jobs before her retirement. Throughout her life, Laurie has always been an animal lover; from her horses growing up to her beloved pit bulls, she always showed love and kindness to her pets. Laurie’s family will remember her for her love of travel, fishing, camping and just being outdoors. She found great joy in watching her boys race at Nimby Pond but her true pride and joy were her grandchildren. Laurie is survived by her husband, Richard Bailey, Jr., her sons, Travis (Misty) Bailey and Blake Bailey; her grandchildren, Emily and Tyler; and her brother, Dennis (Lynette) Shumaker. She is preceded in death by her brother, Harry (Sherry) Shumaker; her half-sisters, Dianne Koelzer and Ruby Wimmer; and her parents.
