Paul Steven Zelas

Paul Steven Zelas, 63, of Kalamazoo, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. The family will receive guests from 11:30am-12:30pm, Monday, May 17, 2021 at Newell Chapel, 83313 M51, Decatur, proceeding to Holy Family Catholic Church, 500 W. St. Marys St., Decatur of Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm. Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Decatur. Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Family Catholic Church or the American Heart Assn., www.heart.org. Paul was born April 13, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Eugene and Eugenia (Musial) Zelas. He graduated from Decatur High School, class of 1976 before attending Southwest Michigan College. He worked for USPS in Kalamazoo for over 40 years, holding various positions. Paul was a sports enthusiast, especially baseball, football, and hockey (sticks & pucks being his favorite). Paul will be remembered as kind hearted, generous, and considerate of others. Paul is survived by his sister, Judy Zelas; his aunt, Jan (Bert) McKenna; his nephew, Ben Zelas; his cousins, Debbie (Michael) Nitchals, Nancy (Claus) Agger-Hielsen, and Karen (Mike) Cate; his sister-in-law, Nancy Wride; and Brian Hayward, who was like a son to him. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Mark Zelas, and Kent Zelas; his uncle, Joseph Musial “Sgt Rock”; and his parents.
