Stephen S. Sittler

Stephen S. Sittler, of Sawyer died on Friday, April 30 in the early morning after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on February 5th, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to Reverend Joseph Sittler and Jeanne Seitz Sittler. He graduated from The University of Chicago and attended medical school at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. He was a Senior Partner in a Gastroenterology practice in Oak Lawn, Illinois. In retirement, at age 65, he moved full time to his home in Sawyer where he enjoyed building a wooden sailboat, being near the water, and long walks with his faithful dog, Jack. He is survived by his wife, Claudia, whom he married in 1972, his daughter Amy, his son Stephen, and his granddaughter Zelda. Also survived by siblings, Ted, Barbara, and Bay. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Hans and Phil. A private family celebration will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank Caring Circle of Lakeland Hospital especially Alison, Michelle, Vivine, and Rosemary. Special thanks to his long term caregiver Kasi Culpepper.
