Bruno de Caneva

Bruno R. de Caneva passed away peacefully at home with his family after losing a painful battle with pancreatic cancer on Feb 15th 2020 at the age of 65. Bruno was born in Trieste, Italy with a mischievous spirit and appetite for laughs on January 6th 1955. He grew up in Chicago, IL and spent time in Michigan where he met his wife of 29 years, Rita, and raised two daughters, Anna and Marie. He loved sports of all kinds and enjoyed coaching his daughters’ softball and basketball teams. He could often be found walking his beloved doggie on the beach and in the natural woods of Harbor Country. Bruno is survived by his mother, Lucia de Caneva, ex-wife Rita de Caneva, daughter and spouse Anna and Peter Hamburger, daughter Marie de Caneva, and granddaughter Sofia Hamburger. He is joined in death by his father Victor de Caneva and brother Robert de Caneva. A Catholic funeral mass will be held in honor of Bruno on Saturday April 24th 2021 at 11:00AM EST at St. Mary of the Lake Church in New Buffalo, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to cancer research in the de Caneva name.
