Robert James Rosenbaum, 75, of Union Pier, MI passed away peacefully in his home on April 7th surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 15, 1945 in Chicago, IL the son of Arthur and Apollonia Rosenbaum. While born in Chicago his parents were residents of Union Pier, MI where following his birth he resided in Union Pier. In 1964, Bob graduated from New Buffalo High School.
On August 26, 1972 Bob married the love of his life, Barbara (Bacztub) Rosenbaum. They raised their family in the same neighborhood where Bob had grown up. Always a hard worker, he was employed by NIPSCO, in Michigan City, IN, until he retired after 30 years of service.
After retirement, Bob and Barb bought a vacation home in Dugspur, VA, where they spent more than half of their time. They made some wonderful friends in the area, whom they consider family. Their children and grandchildren loved visiting their grandparents in Virginia, where they spent many memorable days riding four-wheelers, hiking and clearing trails with their beloved “Grampy.”
Bob was not one to sit still. He was happy when he was active and was a jack-of-all-trades who could figure out how to fix anything. He had a natural talent for working with his hands, and was always willing to use that talent to help out anyone in need.
A great local history buff, Bob enjoyed learning about and preserving the history of the community where he grew up. He collected postcards from the area and eventually published several books which showcase the images from his collection.
Bob was also a devoted Catholic and a member of Saint Mary of the Assumption parish in Three Oaks, MI.
