Esther Charleston

Esther Charleston, 85 of Stevensville, MI passed away Wednesday March 31, 2021 at Crown Pointe Senior Living in Stevensville. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St Joseph with Rev. Calandra Nevenzel officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 until 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Memorials may be made to Zion United Church of Christ Baroda. Those wishing to share a memory of Esther online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Esther was born November 5, 1935 in St. Joseph, MI to German Immigrants Albert and Marie (Kaasmann) Birr. On April 26, 1952 she married Jack Charleston in St. Joseph. Esther worked as a secretary at Paramount Die Cast, Berrien County Court House as a legal secretary in Niles and also in Muskegon Michigan. They lived in Spring Lake for 20 years before retiring back to Berrien County. She & Jack loved to travel, touring Europe and many cruise trips with friends and family. Most importantly she loved being with her family and entertaining friends. Esther is survived by her children; Jack (Vanessa) Charleston, Jill (Richard) Murphy, Bonnie Rimpel and Jeffrey (Beverly) Charleston; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and sister Crystal Norton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, sisters Charlotte Evans and Marian Tober, and son-in-law Richard Rimpel.
