Robert C. Jackson

Robert C. Jackson, 98, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville. Due to COVID -19 precautions, private family services will be held. Burial will follow at Coloma Cemetery with Military Rites. Memorial donations in Bob’s name may be made to Hanson Hospice Center, Trinity Lutheran Church-Berrien Springs or the Michiana Two-Cylinder Club Scholarship Fund. Those wishing to sign Bob’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Bob was born April 9, 1922 in Eau Claire, Michigan to Ernest & Lena Jackson. He graduated from Eau Claire High School, Class of 1940 and attended Michigan State University, studying Dairy Herd Management. Bob served his country at various bases in the States in the US Army Air Corp. during WWII. He ended his military service in Newfoundland after earning the rank of Corporal. Bob married the former Mary Ellen Greenfield on August 16, 1947 in Clinton, Michigan. He spent many years raising cattle, hogs and grain before enrolling in County Normal in Dowagiac, from where he graduated in 1954. Bob began his teaching career at Sister Lakes Public Schools. Bob earned his Bachelors & Masters Degrees from Western Michigan University. He went on to teach at Cribbs School in Watervliet, Watervliet Junior High and ended his career at Milton Junior High as an English & History teacher in 1974. For three years after teaching, Bob sold real estate in the area for Kechkaylo Real Estate and became a member of the Multiple Listing Million Dollar Club. Bob and Mary enjoyed fifteen years of winters in Harlingen, Texas until her death in 1993. On January 1, 1994, Bob married Claudia Godfrey Faultersack, and together they enjoyed fourteen years of winters in Harlingen. Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs, a life member of Lest We Forget, and a member of the Michiana Two-Cylinder Club. He collected and restored two-cylinder John Deere tractors and enjoyed showing them at the area county fairs and participating in the annual July 4th parade in Eau Claire. Bob is survived by his wife Claudia; his daughter Lynette (Ben) Parkhurst, son-in-law Ernie (Patty) Klug; grandchildren-Melanie (Ryan) Stachelski, Kristin (Ed) Meyette, Ryan Klug, Joel (Carly) Klug, Benjamin Parkhurst; great-grandchildren-Julia & Owen Meyette, Lucas & Cole Stachelski, and Heidi Klug; brother-Franklin (Wanda) Jackson; sister-in law Sandra Jackson; numerous nieces & nephews; and his Godson Larry (Julie) Hewitt. He is also survived by Claudia’s children-Kim (Rick) Biggart and Karen (Tim) Willming; and grandchildren-Ryan Alcott & Taylor (Devon) Kibby. He was preceded by his first wife Mary, his daughter Anita Klug, and three brothers-Chester, Francis & Duane Jackson.
