Demeterius Nichols

Demeterius “Big Dee” Nichols, 48, of Benton Harbor, MI., passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Spectrum Health- Lakeland Medical Center. “Big Dee” was born on February 13, 1973, to Selton & Ola (Green) Nichols in Benton Harbor, MI. He attended Benton Harbor High School for some time, and later got his GED. “Big Dee” worked as a CNC machinist for several manufacturing companies over time. He was known for his big heart, his sense of humor and definitely being the life of the party. “Big Dee” loved playing cards, listening to music, and cracking jokes. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Most of all, he enjoyed being a father. “Big Dee” is survived by his daughter Dekiah Nichols of Benton Harbor, MI; mother Ola Nichols of Benton Harbor; God-father, Otis Green of Detroit, MI; significant other Rana Russell of Mishawaka, IN; siblings, Amelia (Franklin) Gibson of Kalamazoo, MI and Millie Ann (Michael) Nichols of Benton Harbor, MI; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews. “Big Dee” was preceded in death by his father Selton Nichols; his brother Damon Nichols; his grandparents Cleotis and Channie Green, Byhalia Robinson, and Arlester Nichols; his nephew Nick Nichols. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 12:00 P.M., at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 11:00A.M. until time of service at the funeral home.
