Primrose's Obituary

Primrose Ann Eichberg, 83, of Berrien Springs, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 13, 2021. She passed peacefully at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI. Primrose was born on March 6, 1938 in Arrington, Cambridgeshire, England, to Freddie and Elsie Charter (Pearce). Most recently, Primrose was challenged by several health issues. Throughout her health challenges she remained positive and cheerful always known for her infectious smile. During her final days she repeatedly stated she was ready to go home to see Jesus and be with John. Primrose met the love of her life, John Eichberg, in 1957 while serving as a Nurses Aid for the Red Cross at the Wimpole Park United States Air Force Hospital in Arrington, Cambridgeshire, England. John was serving in the Air Force as Military Police while stationed at the Wimpole Park United States Air Force Hospital. The two were married in England on August 17, 1957. Primrose and her seven month old infant son traveled to the United States in December of 1958 to start a new home in Berrien Springs. Shortly thereafter, John joined them following his service commitment to the military. Berrien Springs became their life long home where they raised four sons. Primrose retired from the Lakeland Finance Center on Hollywood Road in 2008. She was formerly employed at the Whirlpool Finance Center and Clark Equipment Finance in Buchanan as an Accounts Receivable Clerk. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving faithfully on the Altar Guild for many years. She also was a regular volunteer, during her retirement years, at the Community Outreach Clothing Store sponsored by the First United Methodist Church in Berrien Springs. Primrose always had a love for gardening, most especially flowers. During the summer, her yard was filled with a variety of different flowers, but she particularly loved roses. It was not uncommon for her to gift a bouquet of flowers to family members and friends. She was a lover of greeting cards, always making sure she provided a hand written note in a card for birthdays, holidays and anniversaries of her family members and close friends. Primrose also volunteered her time at Trinity Lutheran Church sharing hand written cards with church members who were ill, hospitalized or shut in. Primrose is survived by her two brothers Colin and Brian Charter of England; three sons, David and Leath Ann Eichberg (Wurzel) of Berrien Springs; Rick Eichberg of Palm Springs, CA; Darryl and Wanda Eichberg (Christy) of Rolling Prairie, IN; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John Eichberg; youngest son Arnold Eichberg; father Freddie Charter; mother Elsie Charter (Pearce) and her youngest brother Christopher Charter.   A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs. Pastor Douglas Adams will be officiating. Primrose’s remains will be laid to rest, with her husband John, at the Fort Custer National Military Cemetery in Augusta, MI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 9123 George Avenue, Berrien Springs, MI 49103. Family condolences may be mailed to Mr. Rick Eichberg, 206 Coyote Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92264 or left online at the Heritage Chapel, Starks Family Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, MI https://www.starksfamilyfh.com/heritage-chapel.
