Diane Ross

Diane Ross, 81, of St. Joseph, passed away, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Martin Measel officiating. Friends may visit from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Masks & Social Distancing will be required for both the visitation & service. Memorial donations in Diane’s name may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Stevensville or Caring Circle Hospice. Those wishing to sign Diane’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Diane was born February 12, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Ray & Diane (Miller) Stibbins. The family moved to Southwest Michigan and she graduated Class of 1958 from Bridgman High School, the same year she was crowned Miss Bridgman. Diane worked for many years as a receptionist at Auto Specialties, where she met her future husband Gerhardt “Gay” Ross. They were married September 5, 1964 in St. Joseph. After raising her son Scott, Diane returned to the work force as a cashier at Zick’s Grocery Store on Vineland Ave. in St. Joseph, for many years. Diane was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies League. In her free time, she enjoyed collecting antiques and selling her wares at Antiques on the Bluff. Diane also enjoyed cooking, completing jig-saw puzzles, and most of all, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and the time spent with her family. Diane is survived by her daughter-in-law Karen Ross of St. Joseph; two grandchildren-Steven Ross of Bowling Green, KY & Kaitlyn Ross of St. Joseph; a sister-in-law Edna Volkers of St. Joseph; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Scott Ross on May 19, 2019, her husband Gay on July 5, 2019, her parents, and her brother and his companion-Ron Stibbins & Kay Hawn.
