Hugo Schewe

Hugo Schewe, 93, of Stevensville, MI passed away on Monday – March 1, 2021 at Caretel Inns in St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Hugo was born in Janufka, Poland on Nov. 17, 1927 to the late Johann and Mathilde (Fischbuch) Schewe. On Oct. 2, 1972 in St. Joseph he married Adelheid Biskup; she preceded him in death in 2016. Hugo worked for many years at Bendix as a line operator. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevensville since 1968. Hugo loved to work outdoors in his garden and mowing his and his neighbor’s lawn. Hugo is survived by his children – Irmtraut Gehrmann of Offenbach, Germany, Marlene Behrens of Wolfsburg, Germany and Hans Missal of Orlando, FL; grandchildren – Janina Bollien, Mark Behrens, Petra Mathes and Bernd Gehrmann all of Germany, and Jason Missal and Mandy Missal both of FL; two great grandchildren also in Germany; and a brother – Walter Schewe of Stevensville; as well as nephew and nieces. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Sat. March 6, 12:00pm, at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home in St. Joseph, with Pastor Jesse Knox officiating. Visitation with the family precedes the service from 11:00am-12:00pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevensville.
