Marcella L. “Marcie” Shindeldecker, 87, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, February 10, at 11 AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Father Adams officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Garden in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Out of respect for the family and guests in attendance, masks and proper social distancing will be required. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Marcie was born on January 20, 1934, in Benton Township, to Charles & Louise (Varney) Fields. On January 27, 1950, Marcie married the love of her life, Donald D. Shindeldecker. The two were happily married for 49 years until his passing in 1999. For many years, Marcie worked at The Elks Club, Ramada Inn and The Witcomb, enjoying the times she was able to socialize with her wonderful patrons. Marcie loved having her yard looked its best. She loved spending time with her family and friends at the family’s cottage on Magician Lake. She loved cooking, cheering on Notre Dame sports and spending time at Lions Park Beach. Marcie was a proud member of St. John’s Catholic Church, where spend would spend time lighting candles and saying prayers for her family and friends that she loved so dearly. Marcie is survived by her loving daughter, Cathy (Jim) Post of St. Joseph; son, Tim Shindeldecker of Granger, IN; grandchildren, Jay & Scott (Kelly) Kovalska, Ryan (Anna) Post, Michael, Tony, Heather, and TJ Shindeldecker; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy (Bill) Davis of North Carolina and Judy (John) Deaner of New Buffalo; and wonderful caregiver and shopping companion, Todd Heeter. Marcie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, LuAnne Kovalska; and grandson, Chad Post.
