Adrick Leland Holt

Adrick “Rick” Holt, 90, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at his residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 1PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Tom Bird officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Out of respect for the family and guests in attendance, mask and social distancing will be required. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Rick was born January 13, 1931 in Loretto, Tennessee to Claude Lee and Pearlie Mae Holt. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, J.W. Holt; and sister, Joyce McDonald. He is survived by Sheri Holt, beloved wife of 48 years; cherished children, Adrick “Trooper” II and Tamra Brown; dear sisters, Vurla Weeder and Leotto Kut; and many loved grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rick was a veteran of the U.S. Army Paratrooper Division. Following his discharge, he settled in Michigan and resided in the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area for 24 years. He became prominent as the owner of National Beauty College, the Jungle Inn Restaurant, and several other businesses. He was a member of the Benton Harbor Jaycees and served the community in various charitable capacities. He had fond memories of co-chairing the popular Blossomtime Queen Program and being a part of the Venetian Festival and the Blossomtime Parade. When he retired in 1996, then a resident of Florida, he was President and CEO of a business he had created, Oxy-Med. Rick’s passion for the restoration of historic yachts eventually led him on a journey, leaving St. Joseph and exploring the Great Lakes. That journey led him to Florida, where he and Sheri settled in 1982, and in February of 2020 his journey led him back home to Michigan and the community he so loved. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, gracious friend, and one who never met a stranger.
