Guy Shepardson

Guy Shepardson, 68, of Galien, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at home with his family by his side. A celebration of life service will be held privately at Swem Chapel in Buchanan. Burial will take place in Galien Cemetery with a public graveside service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021. Those wishing to send a condolence can do so online at www.swemchapel.com. Guy was born on July 5, 1952, to Ellis “Bub” and Marjorie (Brackett) Shepardson in Benton Harbor. He graduated from Galien High School in 1970, with honors. Guy then earned a grant to Grand Valley College, now university, majoring in history. He later went to Western Michigan University, focusing on library studies. Guy was a very avid reader, and always had a book with him. He belonged to the Galien Library Book Club, was a member at Community of Christ Church, Galien and belonged to the Men in Christ group. He loved cats and Soki, the sweet family pit bull. Most of all, Guy cherished his family and church family. Guy is survived by his sister, Kay Shepardson of Galien; brothers, Dean Shepardson of Baroda and John Shepardson of Mishawaka, Ind.; nephews, Tom (Erin) Shepardson and Doug (Stephane Dewaters) Shepardson; nieces, Leona Hollingsworth, April Shepardson; and close friend, Marilyn Krych. He was preceded in death by his parents.
