Jerry was born on July 14, 1954, to Lloyd and Hazel Pollitt (Morningstar) in Niles. He graduated from Galien High School in 1973. On October 4, 1975, he married the former JoAnn Williams. Jerry worked for Niles Community Schools in the Maintenance Department for nearly fifty years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he was most passionate about whitetail deer hunting, whether using his recurve bow or muzzleloader. Jerry, also known as "Bear" by his friends, was a selfless man and liked helping people, teaching many friends about hunting over the years. He also loved to cook, which was another way he could give to others. Most of all, Jerry cherished time spent with his family. Jerry is survived by his wife of forty-five years, JoAnn Pollitt; son, Jeff (Laura) Pollitt and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Casey Pollitt; parents, Lloyd and Hazel Pollitt; brothers, Jack, Richard, Robert, Arthur “Bud” and Frankie Pollitt and niece, Laura Pollitt-Griffey.
