Cammie Hunt

Cammie Hunt, 81, of Coloma, MI passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Monday, February 1, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Jason Olson officiating. Friends may visit from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project. Those wishing to share a memory of Cammie online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Cammie was born January 2, 1940 in Benton Harbor, MI to Carl & Evelyn (Cox) Mitchell. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1957. She then attended Michigan State University where she received her Associates Degree. On September 10, 1960 she married the love of her life, Bruce, in Benton Harbor, MI. Shortly after marrying while at MSU, Cammie and Bruce moved to Illinois where they raised their 2 children and fell in love with boating. She spent the majority of her life in Illinois until retirement, at which time they sold their home and traveled the country in their RV. They ended up splitting their time in homes they purchased in Florida and near her home town in Michigan. She loved watching sports (especially ones involving her grandchildren), golfing, boating, traveling, crafting, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, and just loving life. Her passion was her family and friends, she brought joy and happiness to all who had the privilege to know her. She made lifelong friends along the way with her positive outlook on life and charismatic personality. To know Cammie was to love Cammie. Cammie is survived by her husband Bruce of 60 years of marriage; son Steve Hunt; daughter Sandy Gier; granddaughters Megan & Rachael Gier; siblings Kathy Hill, Cynthia Mitchell, Jane Pallas and Carl “Punky” (Patty) Mitchel; and many nieces and nephews.
