Robert J. “Robert J. "Bob" Field” Field

Robert J. “Bob” Field, 82, of Sodus, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland, St. Joseph. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 11 am-1 pm also at the funeral home. Bob was born on April 23, 1938, in Niles. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1956. Bob then enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably for three years. Following Bob’s service, he went to Cuesta College, earning his RN degree. On October 11, 1959, Robert married the former Cora L. Tarwater in California. He worked at Riverwood for seven years before joining the Berrien County Sherriff’s department in 1979. Bob retired in 2000 as the Jail Nurse after twenty-one years of service. He loved watching old Westerns and TV shows. Bob also enjoyed fishing, puzzles and his dogs. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family. Bob is survived by his sons, Ron (Linda) Field of New Britain, CT. and Ken (Stacey) Field of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Jackie (Branden) Tyler, Aaron (Amanda) Field, Kaylie (Mike) Wittlieff and Jaysen Field; great-granddaughters, Isabella Tyler, Sofia Tyler and sisters, Laura Bross and Beatrice (Bill) Murphy. He was preceded in death by his mother Emily Schumaker and step-father, Harold Schumaker; father, Floyd Field; wife of 52 years, Cora Field and brother, Gene Field.
