Kenneth William Wray, 69, of Dowagiac, MI passed away on Friday-January 15, 2021 in Edwardsburg, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel – 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Kenneth was born on August 13, 1951 in Detroit, MI. He was a 1969 graduate of Dowagiac High School, and continued his education at the Spartan College of Aeronautics & Technology from 1969-1971. He then became a dispatcher and patrolman for the Dowagiac Police Department from Oct. 1973 thru June 1978. In June 1978-Jan. 1979 he was a co-pilot with Queen Air, King Air and C-206. From Feb. 1979-July 1997 he was a Deputy, Commander of the Marine Division, Jail Sgt., Lab & Evidence in the Detective Bureau with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Then from July 1997-Nov. 2014 he worked and retired from the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department both as the Assistant Chief and then Chief. He worked for the Silver Creek Township Police from Sept. 1997-the present. Kenneth was also a veteran of the U.S. Air National Guard. On Aug. 31, 2000, in Edwardsburg, MI, he married Sherry Lorena Odom; she preceded him in death. He was a loving husband and father who always put his family first. Surviving Kenneth are his children – Dawn (Danny) Wray of Albert Lee, MN, Nora (Richard) Wray of Mishawaka, IN, Susan (Kasey) Phillips of Portage, IN, Danielle (Mark) Robinson of Kalamazoo, MI, Kendra Pope of Mishawaka, IN, Tiffany (Richard) Pope of Kalamazoo, MI, Bree Lee of Napanee, IN and Cody Wray of Detroit, MI; grandchildren – Gwyneth, Kirstin, Titus, Savannah, JR, Valerie, Landyn, Tobias and Noah; sister – Connie (Wayne) Pliss of Clearwater, FL; brothers – Marty (Betty) Pace of Edwardsburg, MI and Larry Bjork of Dowagiac, MI; and his faithful canine companion – Betty Lou. Kenneth is also preceded in death by his parents-William and Kathryn Wray.
