Virginia's Obituary

Virginia Beverly Sansone passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Caretel Inns in St. Joseph. Per her request cremation has taken place and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. Virginia was born in Chicago, IL., on July 28, 1938 to Joseph and Virginia (Martin) Stainer. On August. 8, 1959, she married Fred V. Sansone, Sr., at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Oak Park, IL. The two were married for nearly 56 years before his passing in 2015. For 14 years, Virginia worked for and retired from Will County, IL. as a clerk in the tax assessing office. Virginia and Fred both had a love for the water, with a special place in her heart for Michigan. Before moving to St. Joseph Charter Township, they had their boat stored at Eagle Point Marina and would take it for a cruise on Lake Michigan whenever possible. They were both also proud members of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary – St. Joseph Station. Virginia took pride in her jewelry making and the poetry and short stories she would write. She also enjoyed reading, playing the piano and collecting stamps. She was very spiritual and a faithful member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, her religion and relationship with the Lord was very important to her. However, what brought her the most joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia was an incredible lady who always put others before herself and will truly be missed by all who knew her. Virginia is survived by sons, Fred Jr. (Dee), Gerald (Elizabeth), William (Van), & Dominic (Aneta); grandchildren, Nicholas (Kathleen) and Allison Sansone; Steven and Michael Sansone; Tuyet-Van (John) Wilcox and William Jr. (Seleena) Sansone; Maximilian and Alex Sansone, and; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Skyla and Jonathon Wilcox; brothers, Joseph Ill (Joanne) Stainer and William J. (Nikki) Mayer; nephews, Jay (Brenda) Stainer, William Jr., Ian, Scott and Justin Mayer; great nephews and nieces, Austin, Ian and Camden Stainer, and Summer Stainer; half-brothers, Gregory and Jeff Stainer; half-sister, Pamela Hagedorn; and many more nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sr.; both parents; step-father, William J Mayer; and beloved nephew Gene Stainer.
