Nellie's Obituary
Nellie A. Vliek, 101, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at her home in Decatur.
Nellie was born July 4, 1919 in Cleveland, OH to Stanley and Mary (Koposki) Polsyn. She graduated from Jane Adams Vocational School and afterwards met and married Morris Vliek on August 14, 1943 in Cleveland. Nellie was a very accomplished seamstress; her specialty was drapery. About 11 years ago, Nellie moved to Michigan and became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Decatur. She loved to garden, kept an immaculate yard, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Nellie is survived by her grandson, Kurt (Katie) Poland. She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris; her daughter, Pamela (Fred) Poland; her sister, Jay Mileski; and her parents.
A private committal service has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
