Drew V. Smith

Drew V. Smith, Jr., 68, of Decatur, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his home in Decatur. Drew was born December 10, 1952 in Peru, IN to Drew and Dorothy (Pope) Smith, Sr. He married Charlene Flowers on May 17, 1975 at Hope Lutheran Church in Hartford, MI. He worked as a custodian for Decatur Public Schools for 27 years prior to retirement. Drew was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked at the hardware store after retirement, a few times a week, for something to do. In his spare time, he liked putting puzzles together and working out in his garage. He loved being with his family. Drew will be missed by his wife of 45 years, Charlene Smith; his daughters, Tonya (Raymond) Garcia, Mandy (Steve) Smead, and Shannon (Gary) Weishaupt; his grandchildren, Kayla Smith, Kody Garcia, and Heath Hendershot; and his siblings, Kenneth (Martha) Smith, Glen (Brenda) Smith, Betty Arnold, Dorothy Smith, Drewetta (Mark) Flowers, Grady (Marylou) Smith, Jim Rodgers, Mark Smith, and Stella (Bob) Coulson. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Bob Smith, Bonnie Shurburn, and Harold Smith; and his parents. Services will be held privately for family only at Hamilton Township Cemetery, Decatur.
