Earnest's Obituary

Earnest Hester Jr. 85 of Benton Harbor, MI, is resting in peace in the arms of the Lord. He passed on Friday December 25, 2020 at Spectrum-Lakeland hospital. A Celebration of Home Going Service and burial will be held at North Shore Memory Garden Coloma at 12:00 p.m. Monday January 4, 2021 officiated by Revered Autry, Union Memorial Church. Out of respect for the family and guests in attendance masks and social distancing will be required. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchiner.com. A video of the service will be made available online for viewing by family and friends. Earnest was born in Hughes Arkansas to Earnest & Estella (McClendon) Hester. Earnest and Inez-Burton Guidry-Hester were married on April 22, 2014. Earnest was a Semi Truck Driver/Mechanic. He received a certificate from Electric Company Farm Welding School under G.R. Closson & Son. He attended Lake Michigan College completing an Auto Mechanic Program as the top student. Earnest was employed by Signal Delivery Service, United Parcel Service and Lake Shore Motor Trans as an over the road mechanic. He ended his career at Manufactures Freight. Earnest enjoyed playing bid wiz, hunting and was a 33rd degree Mason. He loved to barbeque and cook for his family on Saturday mornings. Earnest is survived by his wife Inez Hester. Earnest is survived by his children Deloris (Earnest) Brown, Collierville TN, Sheila (Cle Swagian) Whatley, Sharon Hester, and Yvonne Hester all of Benton Harbor, Tonette Hester, and Garry (Sandra) Hester of Kalamazoo, Elizabeth (Edward Johnson) Pargo, Benton Harbor MI, Earnest Breeon (Trecia) Hester III, Dumas AR, Vernon Guidry, Benton Harbor MI, Darrell Guidry and Charles Brown of Augusta GA, Rosia Brown and Bernadette Brown, Detroit MI, Tina Lavondo, St. Louis MO, Terrance Burton and Mary Burton, of Kalamazoo MI, Olajuwon Burton and Shaquille Burton, of Madison WI. Earnest is survived by his, siblings-Ida B. Meeks, Doris (Frank W.) Cooper, Russell Hester of Benton Harbor, Gloria (Roy) Shurn of St. Joseph; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends too numerous to list. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lula Mae Rolf and brother Alfred G. Hester.
